One of the things I love best about living in Maplewood/S. Orange is the community spirit here. SOMA residents are very proud of their towns. In 2015, Maplewood won the New Jersey Monthly Hot Town Showdown! This year, South Orange is doing great. After the votes from week 1 were tallied, South Orange came out on top, beating direct competitor Glen Ridge, and earning more than twice the votes of any of the other contenders.
This contest, hosted by New Jersey Monthly and presented by Kings Food Markets, pitted 16 of the hottest towns in New Jersey against each other. These towns were chosen based on factors such as rising home prices and how many days a home is offered for sale on the market. Real estate professionals also gave their input and local buzz was considered.
After the first round of voting, half the contenders were eliminated. In week 2, which began Tuesday, September 5, only eight hot towns remain. This week South Orange is going head-to-head with Denville. Oradelle, Weehawken, New Providence, Hillsborough, Cranbury and Haddonfield round out the week’s competition.
As the list of competitors gets shorter each week, it is important that you vote for your favorite hot town – South Orange. Go to the New Jersey Monthly website to place your vote. You can also see which towns have been eliminated and which towns have been paired in each round of competition. Remember that each time you vote you become eligible to win a $50 gift certificate from Kings Food Markets. The ultimate championship round starts September 19. So let’s make sure South Orange is in that fight!
Go South Orange!
