Wine Barrel, owned by Atul Gupta and managed by Matt Westenberger, is a great upscale local wine, beer and spirits establishment. It opened in December of 2015 to rave reviews from local residents. The store is called Wine Barrel, but they are much more than just wine!
The 5000 square foot store is very impressive. It has a 64 foot beer cooler that is always stocked with local and international beers. There is shelf after shelf of wine and spirits from around the world as well. And the whiskey selection is outstanding. Atul and Matt are always willing to try to locate any brand or varietal that a customer requests. They also have great pairings such as cigars to go with your purchase. And an amazing selection of English delicacies are available to compliment your choices!
Wine Barrel is a great addition to the Maplewood business community. Customer service is paramount: The staff is knowledgeable, helpful and respectful, the prices are reasonable and competitive, and the location is convenient.
This Thursday, October 4th from 6:30 – 9:30pm, the Springfield Avenue Public Art Initiative will be holding it’s 2nd annual Craft Beer Tasting fundraising event at Wine Barrel. The proceeds from this event will go to the Public Art Initiative to enable them to bring more murals to the Springfield Avenue business district. Two murals have already been installed and a third is being added this fall. In addition to the beer tastings, attendees can enjoy savory cuisine from Springfield Avenue restaurants Cornbread and Smokehouse BBQ (purchased separately). Music will be provided by DJ Jen Jones.
