Cora Hartshorn Arboretum in Short Hills presents an evening with Tony Trischka, a famous banjo player who has performed with Pete Seeger, David Grisman, Alison Krauss, Earl Scruggs, and more. The Stone House at the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum. Friday, January 25, 7:30pm

Maplewood Memorial Library is hosting its Bag of Books sale, sponsored by the Friends of Maplewood Library. Saturday, January 26-27 and February 2, 10:00am – 5:00pm

The Chocolate Expo, the largest chocolate event in the United States, celebrates chocolate in almost any way you can imagine. It is held at the Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ. Enjoy events for the family, and some local wineries will be participating. January 27, 10:00am – 7:00pm

New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark presents the Nai-Ni Dance Company who perform their annual celebration of the Lunar New Year. Thursday, January 31 – Friday, February 1, times vary

Montclair Art Museum offers the first Thursday night of the month free to tour current exhibits and enjoy dynamic programming. Current exhibits include Ben Jones: Envision Empower Embrace , Kara Walker: Virginia’s Lynch Mob and other works, Constructing Identity in America (1766-2017). Thursday,February 7, 5:00 – 9:00pm

Valentine’s Day Coffee and Treats! Please join the AZ team at True Salvage Cafe in Maplewood for coffee and treats! Please RSVP by January 25 to [email protected]. Sunday, February 10 10:00am – 12:00pm

The Friends of Frelinghuysen Arboretum offers “Be Mine, Valentine”. Young designers ages 6-10 can plant a Valentine garden using succulents and other small plants to create a perfect Valentine’s Day gift for someone special. Thursday, February 14, 4:00 – 5:00pm

Maplewood Chili CookoffThink you make a mean chili? This is your chance to find out how your best meat or vegetarian chili stacks up against the competition, as judged by your peers. Top prize is a $500 Whole Foods gift card! The entry fee covers the chili tasting and live music. There is a cash bar. Proceeds support the Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges. Sunday, February 24, 2:00 – 5:30pm

The 15th annual Taste of the World is sponsored by the West Orange Rotary Club and held at Mayfair Farms. The event includes sampling from forty different food and wine distributors. Proceeds go toward college scholarships for local high school students. Monday, February 25, 6:00 – 9:00pm

Beauty and the Beast, a production of the Panto Company USA, is performed at the South Orange Performing Arts. In the beloved story of Beauty & the Beast, the beautiful Belle finds herself in a spell-bound castle held captive by a beast. The performance is based on the classic fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. Saturday, March 2, 2:00pm

Philadelphia Flower Show at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia PA, is one of the biggest spring flower show in the area. It is the nation’s largest and longest-running horticultural event and features stunning displays by the world’s premier floral and landscape designers. It has been honored as the best event in the world by the International Festivals & Events Association. March 2-10

4th Annual SOMA Film Festival showcases independent narrative and documentary films at various locations in Maplewood and South Orange. There are over 100 films shown during this event which kicks off with a Wednesday night soiree. March 20-24, times vary
