Millburn, NJ is composed of several distinct areas: the historic Wyoming district, the town of Millburn and the delightful neighborhood called South Mountain Estates. South Mountain Estates is a close-knit neighborhood that is passionate about their local community and school. It covers 0.305 square miles of quiet, winding, tree-lined streets within easy access of public transportation.

South Mountain Estates is located to the south of Millburn Avenue and the east of Main Street and Whittingham Terrace. It is bound by the East and West branches of the Rahway River. Taylor Park, a beautiful 13 acre park with many amenities, is adjacent to the neighborhood. In the spring, flowering cherry trees in the park provide a magnificent backdrop for warmer days.

Springtime in Taylor Park

The population of 2,336 in South Mountain Estates is made up of mostly young, professional families with young children. Back in 2000, Orna Greenberg and her husband Larry moved from Toronto, Canada to Millburn, NJ with their three young children.  During their house hunt, they searched for a community that was close to NYC and within walking distance of public transportation. Larry did not want to spend too much time commuting to and from his new position at The Wall Street Journal in Manhattan. Orna, a fine artist and color consultant, was looking for a community where she could establish herself as an artist. Visit Orna’s website at www.ornagreenberg.com to see some of her work. Together, they were looking for a family oriented community with an excellent school system in which to raise their young family.

Orna and Larry settled on South Mountain Estates in Millburn because it had a welcoming feel, a neighborhood elementary school in a top ranked public school system and was close to public transportation. And Orna knew she could build the perfect studio where she would be free to create. Even though they were living in the suburbs, it was an easy walk for Larry to the Millburn Train Station or the bus to get to work. And as an added bonus, Taylor Park was nearby where their children could play. The Millburn Public Library was also within walking distance, and they spent many hours there reading and going to storytime. Their girls are now in college and their son has graduated, but the Greenbergs are still happy in the home they bought in 2000.
