The 15th annual Maplewoodstock, an annual celebration of community, music and art held every July, will be held on Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15 from noon until around 10:00pm each day. This volunteer run, free, two-day, live music and arts event will be held at Memorial Park in Maplewood – directly opposite Maplewood’s NJ Transit train station.
A total of 23 bands will perform over the two-day festival. Each day of the festival features nearly a dozen bands that represent a wide variety of musical styles, from rock and pop to soul and funk. These bands are selected from applicants who hail from Maplewood/South Orange and other nearby musical communities. Maplewoodstock gives voice to local and regional talent throughout the day, and each day ends with a Featured Artist/Act and a prominent Headliner. Saturday’s Featured Artist is Danielia Cotton from Hopewell and the Headliner is Third World, a reggae band that has toured the world. Sunday’s Featured Act is The Suffers, an eight piece band, and the Headliner is Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band.
In addition to music, Maplewoodstock will have local arts and crafts vendors who bring unique handcrafted goods such as artwork, clothing, and jewelry. There will also be a food court where you can choose from burgers and dogs, chicken and ribs, crab cakes and lobster rolls and many other delectable choices. Or feel free to bring a picnic basket and dine on the lawn! Maplewoodstock will also have a beer garden serving local beer, wine and sangria. A large KidZone with games, inflatable rides, crafts, and more will be available for the youngest attendees.
A senior-friendly tent will also be available to offer protection to those old-timers who want to come out, enjoy the fun surroundings, and sit in the shade.
