Maplewood Halloween Parade

The weather was sunny, cool and breezy on Tuesday afternoon – perfect for the 2017 annual Maplewood Halloween Parade and Costume Contest sponsored by the Maplewood Chamber of Commerce and the Allison Ziefert Real Estate Group. Hundreds of people, old and young, turned out for this spooktacular event!   Witches, devils, ghouls and goblins cruised the streets of downtown Maplewood in search of tricks and treats.

The Village streets were closed to traffic so that kids of all ages could trick-or-treat at all the local merchants. Treats and candy were plentiful for both kids and adults. And several merchants even had special “Adult Treats” available. In addition to traditional candy treats, non-candy treats were handed out as part of the Teal Pumpkin Project, sponsored by the Maplewood Lions Club, to support kids with food allergies. Music was provided by a DJ to create a fun, festive atmosphere throughout the afternoon.

There were so many great costumes and happy faces at the parade, and many of the costumes were very creative. Even some pets participated! Allison Ziefert, who also helped with the costume judging, said the parade has always been one of her favorite events, and she was thrilled to support Maplewood Village with her group’s sponsorship. Some of her favorite costumes were the jellyfish, hot dog cart, gazelle heads and the storm chasers. Congratulations to all the winners!
