Now that Spring is coming, there are many fun local happenings that will get you out of your house to socialize or outside to enjoy the fresh air. One event that we are especially looking forward to is the I DO Redo fundraiser on March 10 that we are hosting to benefit the Interfaith Hospitality Network. I Do Redo – A Wedding Party Grab that party dress you haven’t had a chance to wear, or wear your favorite party outfit! Then, head on down to The Parlor @The Woodland in Maplewood on Saturday, March 10 for a night of FUNdraising, drinks and dancing to benefit Interfaith Hospitality Networks effort to help homeless families in Essex County. Tickets are required.
Maple Sugaring At The Environmental Education Center – Hike to the Environmental Education Center to learn how delicious New Jersey maple syrup is made. This program runs through March 11. Go to the Somerset County Parks website for specific dates and times.
Dr. Seuss Family Day – Celebrate the birthday of one of the most beloved children’s authors and enjoy the current exhibitions. Saturday, March 3 11:00am – 4:00pm at the Morris Museum
2nd Annual Holi Festival – Join the Arboretum and The Indian American Association to welcome spring with a celebration of colors, music, and fresh air. Cora Hartshorn Arboretum, Sunday, March 4 12:00pm. Registration is required.
Maple Sugaring Fest – Learn how early settlers tapped maple trees and turned the sap into delicious maple syrup. Sunday, March 4 1:00pm – 4:00pm at the Reeves Reed Arboretum in Summit
SOMA Film Festival – From the opening night party till the final program, SOMA Film Festival is 3 days packed with amazing and entertaining short and feature films, as well as the popular Kids, Youth Filmmaker, and Locals Programs. Friday, March 16 through Sunday, March 18
SOMA Film Festival – Kids Program – Back by popular demand, the Kids Program will once again offer kids ages 4 to 10 a look at all original shorts from near and far. Free treats and coffee (for adults) will be provided by The Able Baker. Saturday, March 17 10:00am-12:00pm at The Woodland in Maplewood
Monthly Guided Hike – Winter is a special time for the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum. Join Cora’s Conservation Corps as they guide you through the woods and show you that winter is the best time to look for signs of wildlife. The focus of this hike is FrogWatch USA. Sunday, March 18 at 11am, 1pm and 3pm at the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum in Short Hills.
Astro Day – Join the Morris Museum Astronomical Society for a day and evening of programs, activities, and experiences that are truly “Out of this World.” Saturday, March 24 11:00am – 4:00pm and 8:00pm – 10:00pm at the Morris Museum
