NJ Dance Theatre Ensemble INKUBATE – INKUBATE® is a collaboration between the New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble and Reeves-Reed Arboretum offering an “enchanting and exhilarating” evening on the Arboretum grounds. Wednesday, August 1 at 7:00pm Reeves-Reed Arboretum. The Arboretum grounds will open at 6:00pm for concertgoers to picnic.

Family Fun Nights – Wednesdays and Thursdays at The Turtle Back ZooEssex County Turtle Back Zoo has extended hours from 5:00-8:00pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays through August 30th. Enjoy the Zoo when the summer temperatures are cooler and the workday is over. Paid admission is required to enter the Zoo each evening.

On Wednesdays, enjoy Zoo-vies! After playing late at the Zoo, enjoy blockbuster movies under the stars on the rooftop of the parking deck. Admission is free. Zoo admission is not required to participate. Bring your own chair. Films begin at dusk.

South Orange Summer Nights Art in the Park, Concerts in the Park and Moonlit Movies are Wednesday night programs collectively known as South Orange Summer Nights.

Bickford Summer JazzFest – The Bickford Theatre in Morristown will combine great jazz with some of the region’s best food trucks on-site before each concert. Different food trucks will be featured so that both ticket holders and the general public can picnic on the beautiful Morris Museum grounds or tailgate in the spacious parking area from 5:30-7:30pm on festival nights.

National Night Out National Night Out is a community-police awareness-raising event in the United States, held the first Tuesday of August.

  • South Orange – Flood’s Hill 6:30pm August 7 – live music, a Kids Zone with bounce houses, water slides, activities, and giveaways, including t-shirts, Frisbees, and glow sticks. There will also be food truck vendors throughout the event. National Night Out ends with a showing of The Greatest Showman at 8:30pm. Bring blankets and lawn chairs.
  • Maplewood – DeHart Park (120 Burnett Ave.) from 6:00-9:00pm on Tuesday, August 7. The event will feature music, food, and fun.

Montclair Jazz Festival This annual all-day music showcase will host as many as 10,000 people on Saturday, August 11, from noon to 9:00pm. This year’s festival will be headlined by Grammy Award-winning pianist Eddie Palmieri, and acclaimed saxophonist and Montclair resident Oliver Lake, who is scheduled to perform as part of a trio with fellow Montclairite Reggie Workman on bass and drummer Andrew Cyrille. “No Tickets Required” admission!
