The Public School System: The Millburn Township public school system is a nationally recognized school district that serves students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. A total of approximately 5,000 students attend the seven public schools. There are five elementary schools (grades K-5), one middle school (grades 6-8) and one high school (grades 9-12).
The pre-k program is for 3 and 4 year old children and is held at one of the elementary schools. Admission to the program is by lottery.
The five elementary schools, grades k-5, are Deerfield, Glenwood, Hartshorn, South Mountain and Wyoming. Each school focuses on reading and writing, problem solving and the application of technology. All five schools consistently perform at the highest levels on NJ standardized tests.
The Millburn Middle School focuses on developing study skills and leadership qualities in its students. The school is committed to providing the knowledge, skills and values needed to be successful learners and leaders.
The Millburn High School is consistently recognized as one of the best high schools in New Jersey and in the nation. Its rigorous curriculum is taught on four levels of instruction: Accellerated, College Prep A, College Prep B and Non-ranked. There are also more than 30 Advanced Placement (AP) courses. The students are involved in many extra curricular activities as well. With more than 26 varsity sports, 60 clubs and organizations, vocal and instrumental groups, and community outreach and public service activities, there is something for each student outside of the classroom.
