Once known as the “hat manufacturing capital of the world”, commerce in Orange today includes commercial printing, photographic processing, building material supply, assembly and light manufacturing businesses. In the Valley Arts District, a 15 block area between West Orange and S. Orange, the arts are being used to revitalize the economy and structures of the City. The Arts District organization says, “The neighborhood is culturally and economically diverse. It is full of longtime residents as well as new families drawn here by the interesting opportunities available. By utilizing creativity, the arts, and relationship-building, we strive to be an active community partner in this diverse and vibrant neighborhood.” Former manufacturing buildings have been turned into spaces for creative ventures and artists. There is live theater, artist exhibition spaces and even a boxing gym, BRWL. Garden State Kitchen, for example, provides incubation space for culinary businesses.

The historic Seven Oaks section has grand homes and wonderful access to Monte Irvin Park and the train station. Many are being renovated by newcomers or investors.

Orange also offers the benefit of bordering South Orange, West Orange, Montclair, Bloomfield and all of the amazing offerings of these towns. We predict a lot of exciting changes for Orange in the next few years.
